Immerse Yourself in Art, Myth and Technology - Step into a world where art, technology, and mythology converge. "Second Bite: The Wisdom of the Apple," is an innovative art installation by artists Adele Louise Shaw and Larry Dieterich.
Visitors will experience a comfortable and intimate immersive space encircled by dozens of vintage Apple computers forming a profound "spirit network." In this captivating environment, Shaw and Dieterich deconstruct the familiar story of Eve and the snake, reinterpreting the myth of The Fall in the Garden of Eden.
The iconic symbol of the bitten apple serves as a poignant invitation for viewers to celebrate Eve as a Promethean heroine, credited with bestowing powerful forbidden knowledge upon humanity.
The art introduces Artificial Spirituality, a novel application of computer technology, spinning hard drives are transformed into "prayer wheels", casting prayers into Cyberspace - the mystical consciousness of the postmodern age.
Artist Adele Louise Shaw reflects, "This isn't about religion; it's about women & girls and the evolving relationships between humans and technology. As Artificial Intelligence occupies a larger role in our world, Artificial Spirituality emerges to provide a critical counterpoint by expressing what it is to be human in a world saturated with powerful and mysterious technology."
"Second Bite is a profound work of feminism inspired art. Kahunas Adele Shaw and Larry Dieterich's transcendent immersive sculpture surfs all four waves of historical feminism, hanging 10 with the core truths of each wave, knitting them all back together beautifully mirroring the power of a family comprised of a baby girl, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Second Bite is a crystal ball through which women, men and children can see, really see and even touch the feminine." -J Law, art provocateur & co-founder Burning Man Festival
