The Great Disappointment came together in the summer of 2024 for a one-off album of original songs and failed to disband at the end. Patton Price (guitar, vocals), Rowan McCallister (mandolin, banjo, vocals), Adam Lord (bass, vocals), and Chris Barnes (percussion, vocals) are committed to celebrating the radical roots of American string band music. And celebrate we do, combining Patton's wild originals with energetic standards and fiddle tunes to render a fiery and fun vision of Americana.
Some people think that being rooted in the tradition and history of American folk music requires one to sing and write songs that deal with our everyday lives. Others believe that live music should be joyful and surprising. If you're both of these, check out The Great Disappointment, jamming out on timeless American themes like Crypto Bros and the Loch Ness Monster.
The Great Disappointment have all the qualities of a captivating Americana outfit: crooning Dylan-esque vocals, precision string instrument play, and a steadfast message to share. Folk and Americana has a rich history of addressing our everyday lives and political issues, and this band continues that trend.
