The 4th of July is always a great day on the USS Hornet! The USS Hornet is a historical treasure, serving this country faithfully from World War II through the Apollo space program-finishing her already epic career by recovering the Apollo 11 and 12 astronauts after they returned from the moon!
We have some great music lined up this year-from Nashville Honeymoon! They are a special brand of California Honkeytonk, playing modernized versions of 50s and 60s country songs! They will be in the Hangar Bay so you can dance all you want!
We will have lots of great food and beverage options (including 2 no host bars) this year at multiple stations around the Hangar Bay-you're sure to find some of your favorites!
Of course the entire museum is open for you to explore! Do you like aircraft? Spacecraft? Authentically restored ship's spaces? Interesting and educational exhibits about the Navy from the 1940s to the 1970s? We are also offering FREE Island Tours (normally $12) and special short below deck tours for $5 (also normally $12). We will have plenty of docents on hand to answer all your questions about our amazing ship! We will also have our F-8 Crusader cockpit open so you can sit inside, try the controls and get your picture taken!
The flight deck will be open with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Skyline and the Berkeley Hills.
Please note: We won't have fireworks on the ship so plan to spend the day with us and then head over to your favorite fireworks spot afterwards.
