Washington Square is a park in the North Beach district of San Francisco, California. It was established in 1847 and is one of the city's first parks. The park is bordered by sidewalk cafes and restaurants such as Mama's (restaurant), Park Tavern restaurant and the Liguria Bakery as well as the Sts. Washington Square, designed by William Eddy, was one of San Francisco's three original parks. Saints Peter and Paul church faces the square on the north. Joe DiMaggio was a North Beach boy, and his funeral was held in this church in 1999. - https://www.noehill.com
