City Lights & Copper Canyon Press are celebrating two brand new, previously untranslated books by Pablo Neruda at the 2017 Litquake Festival. These publications, both from Neruda’s early period, offer a glimpse into the great poet’s writing never seen before by English readers. The books are: (1) Book of Twilight: Neruda’s first book and (2) Venture of the Infinite Man: Neruda’s experimental 3rd book, crucial in his development as a writer. Participants include Mark Eisner -- the editor and principal translator of The Essential Neruda and author of the definitive biography of Neruda forthcoming from Ecco Press next March, The Poet’s Calling -- and Jessica Powell -- translator of Venture of the Infinite Man whose previous translations into Spanish have been a finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Award and Best Translated Award, respectively.
