Sundown Cinema

Sundown Cinema is back for its fifth season! This year, the free outdoor movie series will feature seven films in seven parks across San Francisco. While all Sundown Cinema movie nights are free and open to the public, current and new SF Parks Alliance members have exclusive access to members-only seating!

2024 Schedule

* Friday, May 17 *
Selena (sing along)
Dolores Park - 6 PM / movie - 8 PM
The true story of Selena, a Texas-born Tejano singer who rose from cult status to performing at the Astrodome, as well as having chart-topping albums on the Latin music charts.

* Friday, June 14 *
Bullitt
Presidio - 6 PM / movie - 8:30 PM
A nonconformist San Francisco cop is determined to find the underworld kingpin who killed the witness under his protection.

* Friday, July 12 *
Labyrinth
Glen Park - 6 PM / movie - 8:30 PM
Sixteen-year-old Sarah must solve a labyrinth to rescue her baby brother when he is taken by the Goblin King.

* Friday, August 2 *
Barbie
Ferry Building - 6 PM / movie - 8 PM
Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. NOTE: BE SURE TO BRING A LAWN CHAIR! The screening will be held on the ground floor of the Ferry Building Plaza.

* Friday, September 6 *
SF's Lost Landscapes: Found Home Movies
Duboce Park - 5:30 PM / movie - 7:30 PM
SF's Lost Landscapes is an eclectic montage of lost and rarely-seen film clips showing life, landscapes and labor in a vanished San Francisco as captured by amateurs, newsreel cameramen and industrial filmmakers. The footage is carefully curated by Rick Prelinger, a Bay Area guerrilla archivist who collects the uncollected and makes it accessible.

* Friday, October 4 *
The Princess and the Frog
India Basin Park - 5 PM/ movie - 6:30 PM
A waitress, desperate to fulfill her dreams as a restaurant owner, is set on a journey to turn a frog prince back into a human being, but she has to face the same problem after she kisses him.

* Friday, October 18 *
The Nightmare Before Christmas (sing along & costume contest)
Jerry Garcia Amphitheater - 5 PM/ movie - 6:30 PM
Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion.

As always, expect local food trucks, themed pre-show entertainment, and film selections that everyone will enjoy. Proceeds support SF Parks Alliance work in these spaces.

* Guests are encouraged to walk, bicycle or take public transportation to all Sundown Cinema park screenings.
* It can get chilly out there, so bring a blanket and cozy clothes to keep warm.
* Please leave your alcohol and weapons at home. Take what you bring in.
