Indigenous Led Regenerative Economy Indigenize #SOCAP17

Join the Dialogue for an Indigenous Led Regenerative Economy at an evening pre-conference to #SOCAP17.
The panel will discuss how indigenous world views and values can inform a more sustainable economy and inspire the impact investment space.
The 8 minute film, The Occupation of Alcatraz that sparked an American Revolution, highlights the lifelong activism of Dr. La Nada War Jack as a student organizer in 1969 during the Indians of all Tribes occupation of Alcatraz island and in 2016, at the Standing Rock reservation opposing the DAPL pipeline.
Other panelists include Digital Smoke Signals who were key social media activists at #NoDAPL, and the event will be opened by Coyote Woman, a Mutsen Ohlone.
Start SOCAP17, On Indigenous Peoples Day, join us for a panel discussion at Long Now Foundation’s Interval space at Fort Mason. Long Now's 10,000 year reference for 10,000 years of Indigenous Resiliency. The panel will discuss how indigenous world views and values can inform a more sustainable economy and inspire the impact investment space.

This evening will initiate our goals throughout the conference to
Educate about an indigenous values index for all investments &
Recruit partners of Empowerment for the Synergy Fund that will support indigenous projects
For the first time begin SOCAP with an Indigenous Peoples Perspective at the #IndigenizeSOCAP preconference.

LaNada War Jack PhD co-organized the takeover of Alcatraz in 1969, organized the Third World Strike as UC Berkeley student, which led to the development of the Ethnic Studies Program at Cal.


Melissa K. Nelson PhD is a Native ecologist, writer, media-maker and indigenous scholar-activist. She is the president/CEO of The Cultural Conservancy.


Larry Merculieff MA Author, has been a passionate advocate for indigenous rights/wisdom, and harmonious relationship with the Earth Mother. His reach has been broad and varied.
