The Public Library for Carmel-By-The-Sea and the surrounding community. Designed by the renowned California architect Bernard Maybeck and built by M.J. Murphy under Maybeck's supervision in 1928. The construction was financed by a bequest from Ella Reid Harrison as a memorial to her husband, California Supreme Court Justice Ralph Chandler Harrison.
Library is open Mon 1pm to 5pm, Tue - Wed 11am to 8pm; Thurs - Fri 11am to 6pm; Sat 1pm to 5pm.
Visitors may obtain a temporary card for a monthly fee.
